Looking at the grinning and happy faces of these two adorable Cocker Spaniels you would never guess that they had just escaped the South Korean Dog Meat Trade.
Named Doogie and Kibby, these are two lucky dogs and they seem to know it too! They can’t control the wiggling, but isn’t that what makes Cocker Spaniels such great dogs?! Doogie and Kibby are just two of the dogs available for adoption through the organization Camp Cocker Rescue along with the help of the Korean Dogs Sanctuary.
The dog meat industry has been a hot topic the last couple of years with the Yulin Dog Meat Festival creating worldwide knowledge of the dog meat trade in China but dog meat is also huge in South Korea. Recently, news from Animals Asia showed that over 100 dog meat restaurants have closed in China thanks to the efforts of animal advocates. With the same level of dedication, there is no doubt that the same success that saved countless dogs in Yulin will also be given to the dogs of South Korea.
Camp Cocker Rescue mostly works with local shelters but when the resources are available and they have the Support of donors, they also rescue dogs internationally. They are currently looking to rescue two more dogs from Korea but are in need of donations to help with airfare, vetting, and boarding.
