FEMA was created to protect communities during disasters like hurricanes and floods. But the Trump administration has allegedly announced a plan to divert $608 million of FEMA funds—not for disaster relief—but to build more immigrant detention camps across the U.S. Even worse, this comes while cutting $1 billion from first responders, disaster preparedness, and cybersecurity.

These detention camps are not part of the criminal justice system. People held inside have not had their cases heard by a judge. Instead, they face indefinite detention in overcrowded, unsanitary conditions, with reports of lack of medical care and no due process. Trump’s plan is to expand these facilities so even more immigrants can be captured and held indefinitely.

We cannot allow FEMA, an agency meant to save lives, to be weaponized this way. Sign the petition now to demand an end to FEMA’s “detention Support grant program.” Speak out today—sign the petition now.
