The expansion of human the population is a leading cause of deforestation and habitat loss for countless plant and animal species. Between the greed of industries and the booming demand for increased housing and farmland, humans are expanding on natural habitats at an astonishing rate. As people move in closer to native animal habitats, human conflict is inevitable.
While there are many heartbreaking stories of innocent animals hunted by people who have encroached on native animal territory, there are also inspirational stories of dedicated people who are doing all they can to combat the negative side effects of human-wildlife interaction. One of the good guys fighting this fight is Wildlife SOS in India.
Since 1995, Wildlife SOS has been actively protecting India’s wildlife and conserving its endangered habitats. They help maintain the earth’s biodiversity and educate communities on sustainable alternatives to poaching. When they received a call notifying them of two tiny mewing baby leopards in a sugarcane field, they were quick to respond.
Though Wildlife SOS has reunited hundreds of babies and mothers, this was the first leopard reunion caught on camera! If you would like to watch the video of their reunion, please check out Wildlife SOS’ Youtube channel, and remember to share the good news!
