Michelle Obama, the former first lady of the United States, recently launched her food and beverage brand, PLEZi Nutrition, to enhance child nutrition. She serves as co-founder and strategic advisor for the company, which offers kids low-sugar, nutrient-dense food and beverage options. PLEZi Nutrition is an extension of her ‘Let’s Move!’ campaign, which she initiated as the first lady to address issues like childhood obesity.

In a statement on the company’s website, Michelle Obama explains her motivation behind the initiative: “I’ve learned that if you want to change the game on this issue (read: health issue), you just can’t rally Support from the outside. You’ve got to get inside. You’ve got to find ways to change the food and beverage industry itself. So that’s exactly what I am doing.
PLEZi Nutrition’s first product is a beverage for children ages six to 12. Michelle Obama highlights the importance of starting with a beverage since parents and pediatricians are concerned about sugary drinks. The drink contains 75 percent less sugar than many other beverages on the market and is packed with nutrients such as fiber, magnesium, zinc, and potassium. Various flavors will be available, including blueberry, orange, and apple. A four-pack of eight-ounce (approximately 236ml) drinks will cost just under four dollars.
Despite introducing the new beverage, Michelle Obama emphasizes that water, milk, and fruits and vegetables remain the best options for children, particularly those aged between one and five. Her efforts in launching PLEZi Nutrition demonstrate her continued commitment to promoting child health and nutrition.
With the increasing importance of healthy eating habits and the rising concern over childhood obesity, Michelle Obama’s PLEZi Nutrition aims to impact children’s lives positively. The brand hopes to help parents make better choices for their children’s nutrition and overall well-being by offering low-sugar, nutrient-dense alternatives to conventional food and beverage products.
