After the Neighbors Moved and Abandoned Their Cat, This Kind Person Built Him a Shelter (PHOTOS)

Welcoming a companion animal into your home is a lifelong commitment. However, many people don’t seem to understand that. It’s something that you may have even witnessed: your neighbor moves away, leaving their outdoor cat behind without a reliable source of food and without shelter. Between abandonment and feral cat populations, there are millions of homeless pets in the United States, and that’s a huge problem. Waffles the cat is one such kitty who lost his home when his family moved and left him behind. Lucky for him, his former family’s neighbor, Imgur user SplitChickadee, realized that the cat was on his own and set out to help.

When the orange kitty named Waffles was abandoned by his family, Imgur user SplitChickadee built him a shelter

When winter set in, Waffles set up residence in the shelter.

As the temperatures grew colder, SplitChickadeee knew the shelter wouldn’t suffice, so they set up a happenin’ cat pad for Waffles in their garage.

Waffles had some reservations about his new home…

…But he got over them when he realized how warm and cozy his bed was.

SplitChickadee even gave this lucky cat his own blankie.

Thanks to SplitChickadee’s compassion for this abandoned kitty, Waffles never went cold or hungry.

Waffles even grew attached to his adoptive hoomans and would look longingly after them when they left for work in the morning.

Waffles may have a pretty sweet set-up right now, but we hope he finds a brand new forever home soon. It’s thanks to one human’s compassion for an abandoned kitty that he’ll never have to scrounge for food or huddle for warmth in the outdoors again.

  1. Pets are for life – he\’s gorgeous, why don\’t they just adopt him. My brother did something similar for a feral cat who lived near his home.

  2. This is confusing. Did he find a forever home or is this not it? It’s very nice that the neighbor made sure the kitty lived through the winter, but does he need a home? Flyers should be posted to find him a home
