There is no denying that the tiger is one of the most beautiful and powerful big cat species to walk the planet, however despite their obvious prowess, tigers are quickly disappearing from their wild habitats. In the past 100 years, wild tiger populations have decreased by 97 percent, leaving only a few thousand cats left in native ecosystems.

The downside of the beauty of the tiger is its aesthetic (and monetary) appeal to humans. Tiger skins are seen as lavish home accessories and a domestic, pet tiger is a coveted object. More and more tigers are losing their lives because humans only see them as objects to be exploited–just look how popular tiger selfies are these days!

In addition to desire to “own” tigers and tiger products, this incredible species is being threatened by habitat loss and deforestation. As tigers are driven out of their jungle habitats, they are pushed into pastoral areas where they are considered a threat to local agriculture. This too is a driving factor behind the rapid decline of the tiger species.

While there may only be a few thousand tigers left in the wild, it is never to let to take action! Check out this amazing video and learn how YOU can help save the tiger from the brink of extinction.
