One day, this man in Augusta, South Carolina, decided that hunting wasn’t for him anymore so he set down his gun and picked up a guitar.
“I just couldn’t kill anything. I really didn’t have the desire to kill anything,” Jacque Hawk told CBS 12.
Hawk is an attorney in Augusta and for the last three months, he has spent almost every morning singing to wild animals in the woods. Although he has always enjoyed the woods, now after he quit hunting, it seems to have a different meaning for him.
Hawk goes out almost every morning and puts out food just in case some wild animals show up to enjoy his music.
“It’s a way for me to get in some guitar practice and do a little singing, and then hopefully, the animals will come,” Hawk told CBS 12. “I usually skip one morning a week, and that’s so they don’t say ‘well, he’s gonna be down there,’ they take me for granted.”
Hawk told the outlet that he began to not want to hunt animals last year. Now, he is trying to gain the trust of the animals “who’ve lost trust for human beings for years.”
“So it’s gonna take time, and I know that,” he told them.
Hawk has even set up a trail cam to capture raccoons, skunks, and deer coming to get the food after he left. He plans to continue this tradition until the animals come. Check out the whole video on animal whisperer Hawk here.
It is incredible to see someone stepping away from hunting and appreciating the animals instead!
