Our canine companions react to being left alone in a number of different ways. They may bark, they might destroy something, they may just go to sleep, or they may even mourn your disappearance like it is equivalent to your death. This dog chose the latter. This dog’s dad decided to use his friend’s new GoPro camera to figure out exactly how his dog reacts to being left alone in the house. The result is heartbreaking.
When this pup’s dad first leaves, we can see him pacing back and forth in the house, occasionally staring out the window in the hopes his dad is coming right back. When he realizes he is going to be alone for more than just a couple of minutes, the dog sadly lays down in bed. He then begins to howl the most mournful howl we’ve ever heard. After sufficiently sharing his sadness with the world, this pup lays down his head and signs heavily.
Leaving our furry friends behind on a regular basis is never easy. Knowing that your pup reacts so negatively makes going to work without them even harder. Many dogs suffer from some amount of separation anxiety. There are simple ways to help alleviate this anxiety. Don’t make homecomings a big deal, for example. When you first arrive home, ignore your dog for a couple minutes (we know, it’s going to be hard) and then slowly begin to pet and acknowledge them. When you leave, try leaving an article of clothing that smells like you with your pup. You can also establish a word that you use every time you leave. This word will eventually mean “I will be back soon” to your dog. If your dog has severe separation anxiety, try contacting a local animal behaviorist to help determine a way to help him overcome this fear.
The best part about coming home in every pet parent’s life is getting that friendly tail wag and sloppy kiss. We’re sure this dog was more than excited when his dad finally returns home.

That poor dog! This video is neither cute nor funny it is just sad!
This is why I always get two pets instead of one. I wouldn\’t leave my pet home alone. I don\’t like being alone either. I never have to worry about seeing a video like this, I just couldn\’t do it. I usually thank people for sharing their videos, can\’t for this one. Shame on all who contributed to this video being show. This is in no way entertaining and has no redeeming value that I can see.
Please go out and buy the calming music CD from http://www.throughadogsear.com (through a dogs ear) It will settle your dog down when you are away from home and keep them happy…no more sad howls. They have them for cats too!!
