Cows are beautiful, intelligent, docile animals who have helped mankind in every way since the beginning of time. Yet, very few cows ever get any hugs! To the contrary, because man has chosen to view them as a commodity rather than the living, feeling, loving animals that they are, most cows are savagely abused.
In fact, the laws governing animal abuse do not even apply to livestock in most places, as they are somehow seen as less worthy of everything, even legal protection than other animals. Deprived of love and companionship – and sometimes even access to grass and sunshine – cows living in factory farms get very different treatment than the cow in this video, who lives at Hof Butenland in Northern Germany.
Hof Butenland is an animal sanctuary that provides a lifelong home for neglected and abused farm animals, many of whom were saved from slaughter. Here, they can enjoy the land, each other, hugs and head scratches from their human companions. As you can see from the happy look on this giant cow’s face, this is really the kind of life these animals deserve!
