Courage the dog was recently rescued by Detroit Dog Rescue, and unfortunately, he has a sad story to tell.

The sweet dog was found with a carabiner hook and chain stuck right through his neck, causing immense pain. The hook was dragging a 15-pound tow chain – the kind that is used to tow cars and trucks! Thankfully, he is now in good hands but his journey to a forever home may be a long one.

“The worst pain imaginable has been done to the sweetest dog,” the rescuers wrote. Apart from the injury, he is also suffering from heartworm.

Courage’s recovery is bound to be long and tasking, but the rescue team is completely dedicated to saving him. The dog’s medical care and treatment are estimated to reach over $6,000.

It is difficult to think about the pain that Courage must have endured. As his rescuers say, his injury looks like something you would only see in horror films.

“Courage deserves us,” his rescuers shared. “He deserves to wake up from a life that has been such a nightmare.”

You can help Courage by making a donation towards his care, here. To learn more about Detroit Dog Rescue, click here.

A carabiner THROUGH this dog\'s skin? Who does crap like this ?!?
As far as I\'m concerned you can lock them up for the rest of their miserable lives in the nastiest place you can find.
Prayers for Courage\'s healing - physical and emotional.

This is pure evil and the monster who perpetrated this needs to be locked up for the rest of their miserable lives! Who could look into the eyes of an innocent being and do this?? Heartbreaking!

This is an outrage. Under my benevolent dictatorship, humans would have to be trained and licensed, before they could own animals. And those guilty of animal cruelty would face serious penalties.

Crap! Under your benevolent dictatorship you should make sure humans are trained and licensed before they can reproduce, and pass on their f-up\'d mental problems. (just kidding ...)

Doesn\'t cost $6000 to treat heartworm & clean & heal his neck wounds, what\'s going on, cant be paying vets who need to earn a profit?
