Dog Alerts Human to “Pet” Tiger Roaming Around Outside

White bengal tiger yawning

When this woman’s small dog started barking, she couldn’t have imagined what she would walk outside to find and what the dog was trying to alert her to.

The woman was at a resort in Mexico in Puerto Vallarta and posted a TikTok of what she found outside. @beerforbreakfastshorts posted a short clip that has now racked up over 1.1 million views.

The heartbreaking clip shows a beautiful white tiger who is chained up on a leash with someone walking it in the yard as if it is a pet. One user even pointed out in the comments that it looks like a Bengal white tiger, which is “supposed to be on the brink of extinction.”

In a follow-up video, the tiger is seen surrounded by a group of men while one of them plays with the animal and puts his arm in the tiger’s mouth. Someone behind the camera can be heard saying, “this is insane,” as they film the heartbreaking scene.

Another user pointed out that the tiger likely had his teeth pulled for exhibition.

Taking these animals from the wild for our enjoyment is driving them toward extinction, which not only eliminates a species but puts others in danger by disrupting delicate ecosystems. Exotic animals belong in the wild, there’s no way an animal can be happy living in our backyard or stuck alone in a cage for endless hours.

If the demand for exotic pets did not exist, the exotic pet trade would not exist. So, if you agree that keeping exotic animals as pets is cruel, don’t Support it either. Do not buy from pet shops or dealers. Leave the wild in the wild.

Animal shelters are filled with cats and dogs who need loving families and homes. You can also Support the legislation to ban the ownership of exotic animals. With over 200 million live animal trades having taken place since 1975, governments must crack down on this cruel trade to protect individual animals and threatened species.

These animals need us to speak for them, so if you see an exotic animal living in terrible conditions as a pet (or one that is illegally owned), say something! You can report suspected abuse to local police, who can take necessary action. This small action might not make a difference for every animal suffering in the exotic pet trade, but it will make all the difference for that one creature! You can also share this post to spread the word about exotic pets and show the world why this “fad” has got to go.
