When we look into the eyes of our pets, we see love, care, trust, loyalty, and so much more shining through in our faithful friends’ eyes. After getting to know our sweet companion so well, it’s impossible to imagine ever causing them, or any other animal, any kind of harm or suffering. How can we cause pain to an animal, when we know their emotional capacities and complexities so well?

For one cattle rancher, it was an innocent little calf that caused his heart to change in this way. When a calf was born prematurely, Mike Lanigan did everything he could to save the baby’s life. While doing so, he realized he couldn’t turn around and slaughter this sweet baby, or any others, after working so hard to help. After 20 years of sending cows to a slaughterhouse, Lanigan now runs an organic farm, where cows’ sole purpose is to graze. Watch this amazing video to see this turnaround!
