A dead cat was discovered hanging from a tree with a rope around its neck in North Point, Hong Kong. The incident, which has been classified as a case of animal cruelty, has ignited public outrage and prompted an investigation by local authorities.
The horrific incident took place at the North Point Promenade Pet Garden. On October 14, 2023, a concerned individual stumbled upon the lifeless body of a brown and white cat hanging from a banyan tree, suspended by a blue nylon rope tightly wrapped around their neck. The scene was truly horrifying for both the individual who found the cat and the police, and it sent shockwaves through the community.
Luckily, local authorities were swift to respond to the alarming report. Officers arrived at the North Point Promenade Pet Garden shortly after receiving the call. Upon reaching the scene, they encountered the distressing sight of a cat hanging from a tree trunk, approximately three meters above the sea. The cat, a 5-year-old male with distinctive leopard-like markings, had tragically fallen victim to this act of cruelty. Although they do not know who did this, authorities are hoping to figure it out soon.
One crucial lead in the investigation is the presence of nearby CCTV cameras. Recognizing the potential value of this evidence, the concerned citizens contacted Sun Hung Kai Management Company in North Point Plaza, requesting their assistance in reviewing the CCTV footage. The hope is that this footage will help identify and bring to justice the individuals responsible for this evil act. When justice is served and those responsible are found, they will face up to three years in jail and up to HK$200,000 fine.
