How does a Grammy-award winning superstar get ready to headline music and arts festival, Coachella, this coming April? You eat vegan! Just ask Beyoncé, who recently shared on her Instagram that she is going to follow a vegan diet to prepare for the show – and she wants her fans to join her.
“44 days until Coachella!! Vegan Time!! Click the link in my bio to join me!” Beyoncé shared to her 112 million followers on Instagram. She links to The 22 Days Challenge, a plant-based food challenge she co-founded in 2013 with longtime trainer Marco Borge.
Queen B also shared photos of her Coachella rehearsals, where she once again urged the beehive to check out The 22 Days Challenge. The website provides customized recipes to help people make the switch to plant-based foods.
Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z went vegan for 22 days back in 2013, and Jay even blogged about his experience.
“We want to challenge you as we challenge ourselves to move towards a more plant-based lifestyle and acknowledge you for standing up for your health and the health of the planet,” Beyoncé and Jay-Z state on The 22 Days Challenge website.
While Beyoncé’s decision to eat plant-based in preparation for Coachella seems to be temporary, we can’t help but think of the countless people that are now exposed to the benefits of vegan eating thanks to the influential star. A whole food vegan diet has repeatedly been linked to better heart health, prevention of diabetes, and cancer, and more. Plus, considering the immense toll the animal agriculture industry is taking on our planet, including rampant air and water pollution, land degradation, deforestation, and pushing countless species to the brink of extinction, we are thrilled to see celebrities using their platform for good!
