Possible Bait Dog Found in the Rio Grande Valley Is Learning How to Love Again

Lucky the dog was lucky indeed to be found by kind people just in time and brought to safety. Before that, however, this poor dog’s life must have been full of suffering. The Rescue Dogs Rock NYC team, who now have Lucky in their care, suspect that the dog might have been a so-called “bait dog” cruelly used during dog fights to fuel other exploited dogs’ aggression. Whatever his past was, Lucky is now finally in a place where nothing bad can happen to him, and he is slowly beginning his recovery.

When he was spotted by his rescuers, they knew immediately Lucky needed their help. They put him in the car and brought right to Rescue Dogs Rock NYC.

“Just one look at him brings tears to your eyes,” the team writes on their Facebook page. Lucky has gashes and bruises on his head, is neglected and skinny. It is clear just looking at him that he was seriously abused and his pain must have been ongoing.

Lucky might have been a bait dog but there are no definitive answers to the questions about what really happened in his past. What matters most, is helping him now so that his present and future can show him what a normal and happy life is.

Lucky is now in a desperate need of medical care, providing which is the rescuers’ priority. This wonderful dog that has already suffered more than any living being should and we hope he will eventually get a real, loving home.
