In an ideal world, every baby, human or animal, would be raised by their mother with love and care. Unfortunately, this is not always the case in reality. The animal agriculture industry, in particular, is known for separating mothers from their babies, sometimes mere moments after giving birth to them. As a result, there are hundreds of young creatures who are left orphaned, destined to figure out this confusing life on their own. That is unless they happen to be one of the lucky few who are brought into the loving care of a sanctuary.
Take Andres, the baby goat in the video above. When he arrived at the Santuario Igualdad Interspecie, he was ill, depressed, and had but a sliver of the rambunctious spirit baby goats are famous for. Having been separated from his mother at a dairy farm and then put up for sale at a meat market, Andres had no maternal figure to guide him. Thankfully, Marisol, the kind woman in the video, has become that maternal presence in Andres’ life.
She feeds him, hops around with him, and of course, provides plenty of cuddles and kisses! Nothing will ever take away the trauma that Andres has endured thus far in his life, but at least under Santuario’s care he will be able to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. From the looks of his little smile, it seems he already has started.
