Autlook Filmsales has secured the international sales rights to the documentary “Us, Our Pets and the War.” The film takes a look into the profound impact of the war in Ukraine on animals. The film highlights how the conflict precipitated the largest pet evacuation in history.
Directed by investigative journalist and YouTube vlogger Anton Ptushkin, the film has already achieved significant acclaim, becoming the highest-grossing theatrically released documentary in Ukraine. Ptushkin, a former travel vlogger with over 5.5 million subscribers, shifted his focus to reporting on the war in Ukraine in April 2022, using his platform to raise global awareness about the conflict.
Autlook’s CEO, Salma Abdalla, expressed enthusiasm for the documentary, stating, “The film’s powerful message of compassion is especially relevant in today’s world, and we believe it will connect with viewers on a deep emotional level.” Executive producer Elizabeth Trojian added that the film “highlights the strength of the human spirit and the bond between Ukrainians and their animals.”
“Us, Our Pets and the War” is a Ukrainian-Canadian co-production between Yap Films and VSE SAM, in association with the WNET Group, PBS, CPB, and CBC, with the Support of the Rogers Documentary Fund.
