It’s always fascinating to witness an animal take on the task of raising a baby of a different species. Whether we hear about a bottlenose dolphin nursing a calf of a different dolphin species, a kind mother cat taking care of a helpless squirrel, or another feline raising four baby hedgehogs, in addition to her own kitten, the depth of these inter-species bonds never fail to bring a lump to our throats.
And now, we present you with another incredible interspecies adoption story: that of an abandoned newborn kitten, rescued by a kind passerby, and then mothered by a poodle who was herself brought up by kitties! Video uploader Taylor James Johnson explained, “This kitten was found in a dumpster a few minutes before this footage was shot. Our poodle (who was raised by cats) quickly jumped in to perform the task of motherhood.”
The thirty-second clip above shows the loving poodle doing her best to make the kitty feel at home, by giving her plenty of cuddles and kisses. Doesn’t it just make your heart sing? Let’s hope this pair remain best of friends for many years to come.
