30 Dogs Found Dead and Stuffed in Freezers At Ohio Animal Rescue

Authorities in Butler County, Ohio, recently seized around 90 dogs and puppies from deplorable conditions at the Helping Hands for Furry Paws animal rescue in Madison Township. The grim discovery took place during an investigation into a known hoarding case. Shockingly, they found the remains of approximately 30 deceased dogs crammed into freezers and refrigerators, alongside dozens of surviving canines suffering from malnourishment and various health issues.

The owner and operator of the rescue, Ronda Murphy, now faces numerous charges of neglect and cruelty to animals, including both felony and misdemeanor counts. The local sheriff, Richard K. Jones, expressed his dismay at the horrifying conditions these innocent animals were subjected to. Fortunately, the surviving dogs and puppies were rescued and taken to the Animal Friends Humane Society in Hamilton, Ohio, where they are now receiving much-needed medical attention and the love and compassion they deserve.

The investigation into Helping Hands for Furry Paws shed light on the nightmarish living conditions of the canines. Adult dogs and puppies were housed in various structures across two separate properties in Madison Township, with many living in overcrowded cages filled with urine, fecal matter, and no access to food or water. Some dogs were even found living inside a garage with no ventilation or air conditioning, leading to an indoor temperature of a sweltering 89 degrees.

Deputy Dog Wardens described the main house as “unlivable,” and the stench inside was so overpowering that it caused physical distress for the investigators themselves. These dedicated individuals had to leave the structure multiple times to catch their breath while rescuing the helpless animals.

The situation was so dire that Animal Friends Humane Society, a well-established and caring shelter in Hamilton, took in all the seized dogs and puppies. Their staff and volunteers have been working tirelessly to provide proper care, including feeding, watering, and veterinary assistance. The shelter is committed to nursing these dogs back to health and showing them the love and compassion they have been deprived of for far too long.
