The next time you’re done eating a banana, don’t throw out the peel! Banana peels do wonders for your plants. They’re packed with potassium, phosphorus, and calcium and are a perfect natural tonic for all plants. This natural fertilizer will make your plants grow like crazy.
@chelsychristina Bonus points if you compost the peels #ecotip #ecotok #planthack #fertilizer #bananafertilizer #sustainability #planttiktok #earthmonth #ecofriendly ♬ Buttercup – Jack Stauber
This DIY hack is so simple and easy to make. Start by cutting up banana peels and placing them in a large bowl. Add water following a 1:4 ratio, and allow them to soak for 2 to 3 days, which will allow time for all the beneficial minerals to seep into the water. After the time has passed, water your plants and watch them thrive!
If sustainability is on the horizon, however distant it may be, then we must start learning to do it for ourselves. Composting these peels is a much more constructive way of dealing with them than tossing them in a trash can, especially with this completely organic, natural fertilizer hack. And, what we want to do when making these fertilizers is to work with the soil, building it up and stimulating the life within it rather than just feeding the plants.
Once the soil is healthy, the plants will be healthy, and this whole growing food at home thing will become much easier. But a bit of homemade fertilizer on the way there can provide some inspiration!
