The United States Broke Its Single Day Coronavirus Case Record, Again

The United States has beaten its own record of total new coronavirus cases at least nine times in the past month. July 16 was another day of highest-yet reported cases, according to Johns Hopkins data. 77, 255 new cases were reported. The daily case counts after that are still staggeringly high.

To help quell the spread, 27 states have rolled back or stopped their reopening plans. California said earlier in the week that they would close all bars and restaurants in the state after their case numbers started to grow.

Experts are still recommending face masks as the best way to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Some states have not made masks mandatory across the state. In Florida, which has the highest case count in the nation, Governor Ron DeSantis has not instituted a state-wide mask ban.

Health models estimate that over 150,000 Americans will die from the coronavirus by August 8. By July 18, there were 140,119 deaths in the United States linked to the virus, and at least 3.7 million Americans have been infected with the virus.

Scientists believe that the spread of COVID-19, or coronavirus, started at an exotic animal market in Wuhan, China. You can help stop the incidence of viruses like these by signing this petition to ban the wildlife trade.
