In a bold effort to change how we talk about Climate change, Greenpeace has introduced “My Pet Footprint,” an animated series that blends humor with environmental activism. Targeted at Generation Z but enjoyable for all ages, the show combines dystopian themes and science fiction with a comedic twist to engage viewers on pressing ecological issues.

The story centers on Bella, a 15-year-old girl, and her sentient carbon footprint named Betty, who carries the collective guilt of the world’s biggest polluters. Together, they embark on surreal adventures through time and space, confronting the severe impacts of Climate change orchestrated by major oil companies. In their universe, corporate executives have removed their consciences, becoming unfeeling, profit-driven entities that present significant challenges for Bella and Betty.
“With ‘My Pet Footprint,’ we’re not just creating a TV show—we’re sparking a movement,” said Mikyoung Kim, Project Manager at Greenpeace East Asia. “By harnessing animation and comedy, we’re developing a new language to discuss Climate change, one that resonates across generations and cultures.”
The series is produced by Wit & Wisdom, a Prague-based animation studio known for socially conscious projects with organizations like UNICEF and the World Wildlife Fund. Leading the creative team is filmmaker Daniel Bird, who trained under renowned Czech surrealist Jan Švankmajer. Bird emphasizes that the show’s primary goal is to entertain first and educate second, making environmental topics more approachable.
“If we can laugh at Climate change, we can start talking about it seriously,” Bird explained. “Many people avoid the subject because it’s overwhelming, but humor can open the door to meaningful discussions.”
Wit & Wisdom has developed a seven-episode series outline and completed the script for the pilot episode. They plan to produce the pilot to attract investors and secure funding for the first season. While they aim for a streaming platform release, they’re also considering a YouTube series or adapting the episodes into a feature film if necessary.
“Our goal isn’t to create a commercial product but to make something fun and impactful,” Bird added. “We hope to contribute positively to the fight against climate change by engaging people in a new way.”
By approaching environmental issues through comedy and animation, “My Pet Footprint” seeks to make the climate conversation more accessible, encouraging audiences to engage and take action.
