As many people are starting to realize, animal testing is extremely cruel and completely unnecessary. These poor animals live out their lives in small, empty cages – only to be let out for a variety of horrific experiments. While many people purchase cruelty-free products to avoid supporting such atrocious treatment of animals, we inevitably have to support them whether we like it or not.

Every year, more than $16 billion US taxpayer dollars are used to fund animal experiments. This includes $140 million that is sent to labs overseas, where there is “virtually no oversight from U.S. authorities.” In the US, these experiments have included drilling holes in monkeys’ skulls to inject PCP into their brains, asphyxiating and killing kittens, and forcing dogs to have heart attacks before removing parts of their brains. Abroad, US taxpayer-funded labs have force-feeding mice human feces, getting monkeys addicted alcohol, and electrically inducing urination in mice.

These cruel tests are completely unnecessary, as has been proven time and time again. There are so many alternatives that are not only more ethical, but also more effective and reliable. Sign this petition to end forced taxpayer funding for painful animal experiments at home… and abroad!
