Meet Magnolia … we promise you there is a dog under there somewhere! Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge recently received a text from a concerned citizen who found this poor little girl abandoned. She was left outside in hot weather without food, water, or shade, and to make matters even worse, she had been stuffed in a rabbit cage! We know she is tiny but there is absolutely no excuse.
Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, which believes that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter, immediately took Magnolia into their care. They found the poor pup to be severely dehydrated and covered in painful, matted, filthy fur.

Goodness knows how long this poor girl had been left like this!

These kinds of mats can take years to form. This is an awful case of neglect.

Even though she had to be in awful pain, Magnolia was an instant hit with the staff, proving sweet and cuddly with affection for everyone. Magnolia received 24-hour care which included pain relief and IV fluids, as well as removing some of those uncomfortable clumps of fur.

It’s possible she may need surgery for a broken jaw, but despite this, she is still a little fighter and is eating and drinking the best she can. Look at how much better her fur is!

Here is Magnolia after some love and attention, and a much-needed bath.

Our hearts sink every time we read a story like this. From dogs kept on chains, to dogs masquerading as mops because of how long it has been since they were cared for, stories like Magnolia’s are nothing new. Organizations like Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge have their work cut out to continually care for neglected animals.
If you are considering getting a new pet, please think of Magnolia and consider adopting instead of buying. There are thousands of animals in shelters waiting for a loving, forever home. Think about what you have to offer and make the choice to introduce a rescued dog like Magnolia into your family. You are guaranteed to have a bundle of love!
Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge set up the Betty Lou fund specifically for emergency medical cases like Magnolia’s. Please consider donating if you can.

HELL AWAITS THE ABUSER OF MAGNOLIA THE GREAT DOG NOW. GLAD THIS DOG WAS SAVED.
Ditto…thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!
SOME ONE SHOULD BE SHOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i wish you could find the offender and put him in a bird cage out in the sun, and then shoot him.
Don\’t shoot them, that\’s too easy. Let them suffer until they die from starvation, heat and the sun.
Even that is too good for anyone who would treat an animal this way.
