First there was a cute video of dogs protecting babies, so naturally its time for a video of cats protecting babies. Of course as the video notes, it’s more like the cats are just hanging around in hopes of getting some extra milk! Even if it’s just for the milk, these cats are pretty cute and funny as they interact with their new family members.
The video compilation includes some adorable cuddling shots while other clips are just down right hilarious. Obviously, not ever cat should be let near a baby but all these cats are very pleasant and kind toward the young ones.
Like having a dog around before you are born, having cats around can also protect you against certain allergies and sicknesses. So even if these cats are just putting up with the babies in hopes of scoring extra milk, they are actually protecting them by exposing them to dirt, germs and allergies, effectively boosting their immune systems. Pretty cool, huh?

We had 2 cats when we had each of our babies. Often I would find one or both of them asleep in the crib with the baby. It’s an old wives tale that cats “suck the breath” of the baby. It isn’t about the milk as I never saw either cat trying to lick the mouth of the baby. Most animals understand babies regardless of the species and act accordingly.
