Animal rescues are so special. As sad as the circumstances are to start, the freedom the animal receives and the forever home they end up in always makes theses stories heartwarming. Below is an oldie but a goodie, a video of a group of beagles walking outside their crates, in the sun and on the grass for the very first time after being rescued!
The beagles in the video are so precious and timid of the outside world, your heart will instantly break for them. They were saved by the Beagle Freedom Project, just one of many great beagle rescues in the county. According to the rescue’s website, all dogs from this video have been adopted and were given loving forever homes. Woohoo!
Beagles are the most common breed of dog to be used in medical testing in the country. Sadly, they are used for studies involving cardiovascular, respiratory, nervous system other tests.
Medical testing isn’t the only institution that place dogs and other animals in such horrible conditions. Puppy mills also keep their dogs locked up in crates away from the freedom of a freshly cut lawn. Just recently the National Mill Rescue group saved 75 puppy mill dogs from a number of states. 30 of these puppies were sent to Arizona where they filmed their first adventure outside.

Sadly, the vast majority of beagles in research are not so lucky – the puppies and their mothers who have recently been the subject of an investigation by the UK BUAV, never saw anything else than the interior of the labs they were born, lived and died in.
