It’s horrible to hear about animal abuse cases or read the ways humans are endangering many species. Fortunately, there are things we can do to speak for them. One of the ways we can help and lend our voices to good causes is by signing petitions. Such petitions are sent to people in powerful positions that can make a change, especially when they see just how many people stand behind the cause. We can demand change, justice, and stop tragedies by speaking up and doing our part.

There are horrifying things happening around the world every week like extinction, hunting, exploitation, and cruelty. If you are looking for a way to help animals, here are 10 petitions you should sign this week, including protecting bears from the bile trade, ending animal testing for botox, and stopping the cruel Rattlesnake Roundup in Texas.

We want to thank you for being the change you wish to see in the world and giving a voice to the voiceless.

1. Protect North American Bears from the Bile Trade

In Asia, bear bile is believed to be medicinal. This has led to bear farms in China were animals are forced to live in captivity. Poachers also kill bears for their gallbladders, but this isn’t limited to Asia. Bears are killed right here in North America for the bile trade. Senators John Kennedy and Cory Booker introduced The Bear Protection Act which would “protect bears from poaching and torture and prohibit the import, export, possession, transport, and sale of bear organs.” Sign this petition urging Congress to make it law!

2. Save Sri Lankan Elephants from Dying

In 2019, 361 elephants were killed in Sri Lanka, and almost 85% of the death count can be attributed to humans. Elephants are tangled up and fried in electric fences, blown up with explosives, and even poisoned. Just last September, 7 elephants all perished when they consumed food that had been laced with poison and set out as a trap. Sri Lanka must update its laws to make the punishment for killing an elephant proportionate and enforceable! Sign this petition urging Sri Lanka’s government to act immediately and pass new, fairer, and enforceable punishments for murdering elephants.

“Cheetahs have vanished from approximately 90 percent of their historic range in Africa, and are extinct in Asia except for a single, isolated population of perhaps 50 individuals in central Iran,” according to Only 7100 cheetahs remain in the wild. Sign this petition asking the Pan African Parliament and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly to act fast to save the cheetah from extinction and ban trophy hunting!

4. Stop The Brutal Massacre Of Protected Wolves

The Guardian reports: “The wolf is protected by EU law but a rising tide of hostility is encouraging some politicians to push to kill it. France approved a cull of up to 40 wolves following protests last year. When Germany’s wolf population reached 60 packs, its agriculture minister recently argued that numbers must be regulated by culling. Finland has culled its wolf population down to 150, and this winter Norway is slaughtering about half of its wolf population of less than 100 animals.” Sign this petition asking the European Union to impose severe sanctions against European countries that persecute wolves!

A baby elephant named Pip is used for begging in Phuket, Thailand. She is kept on a chain alone at night. Her owner hits her with a bull hook and she’s been seen bobbing her head constantly, an obvious sign of distress. She doesn’t appear to have access to fresh water or food. Thailand Elephants and a witness are trying to raise awareness of her situation to free her from the appalling conditions. Sign this petition to support their fight to free Pip and ask for her freedom!

6. Pledge Not to go to Cruel Dolphin Shows

In the wild, marine mammals swim freely with their pods. They aren’t confined to small tanks. Some stereotypic behaviors include swimming in circles repetitively, establishing pecking orders, and lying motionless at the surface or on the aquarium floor for relatively long periods of time. In captivity, dolphins and whales even hurt and break their teeth to extreme boredom which causes them to bite down on bars. They suffer unusual illnesses, collapsed dorsal fins, accelerated deaths, and have become so depressed that many have even beached themselves in attempts to commit suicide. Sign this petition pledging not to go to dolphin shows!

7. Demand an End to Fur Farming in Finland

Finland is the world’s biggest producer of fox fur along with China. In addition to foxes, also minks and raccoon dogs are farmed in Finland. Every year, approximately 3.5 million foxes, minks and raccoon dogs are killed for their fur in Finland. The animals live in small wire cages where they do not have room for almost any movement. Cage requirement for a fox and a raccoon dog is 0.8 square meters while for the mink it is 0.25 square meters without a nest box. Foxes and raccoon dogs are killed by anal electrocution and minks by gas to prevent any damages to the quality of the animals’ skin. Sign this petition demanding that the Finnish Parliament enact a law to prohibit fur farming!

8. End Hound Hunting in the United States

The cruel “sport” of hound hunting involves using trained dogs to viciously chase an animal and then rip it limb from limb. To hunters, this is a “fun sport” like bird watching. That’s just awful. Congressman Tony Cardenas once said: “I believe animals play an important role in our lives and should be protected from cruelty and abuse. By strengthening our country’s animal welfare policies, Congress can make a big impact on the lives of millions.” Sign this petition asking him to introduce legislation to ban hound hunting across the United States.

9. Stop Killing Animals for Botox Testing

Source: 400 Thousand Animals Killed For Botox Testing

A report by Cruelty Free International found that more than 400,000 mice are killed every year for botox testing in the EU. They die slowly of paralysis, suffocating while still conscious. Although used for some very limited medical purposes, botox is predominantly used to prevent wrinkles and facial lines. There has been a ban against animal testing for cosmetic purposes in the EU since 2013, but unfortunately botox is injected, not applied, and that causes these deaths to fall into a loophole – only external products are considered “cosmetic.” Sign this petition calling for an end to animal testing for botox!

Thousands of snakes are rounded up from the surrounding countryside and then thrown in huge pits where they will be brutally decapitated by young beauty queens.
