Animal rights advocates are pleading for help in finding the person behind an Instagram video that showed a person feeding a Muscovy duck a piece of bread laced with small fish hooks.
The Muscovy duck is either hated or loved by Floridians and is often subjected to serious abuse, such as being shot with pellets, darts, or arrows.
David Crawford, of Animal Help Now, is investigating the video after receiving a tip that the Instagram account belonged to a 15-year-old boy in Miramar. However, the boy denied making the video and stated that he only shared it.
Many other animal rescue experts and Animal rights advocates are shocked at this extreme form of abuse. Robert Ruderman, Humane Wildlife Consulting of South Florida, said, “I’ve never seen anything like this. Bread laced with treble hooks, which are vicious little weapons. This individual is a menace to animals.”
Authorities are currently still trying to find out the identity of the individual. Anyone who knows anything about the video or who may be behind it should call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. You can remain anonymous if you wish to, and you may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
