Two furry friends at a Minneapolis animal shelter recently showed that not even cement walls could stand in the way of their companionship. The adorable duo, Brenda and Linda, pit bulls by breed, have become the toast of the shelter, displaying their devotion in an unexpected escapade captured on video.

These inseparable pals arrived at the Minneapolis Animal Care and Control (MACC) around the same time, striking up a fast friendship. Madison Weissenborn from MACC told CBS NEWS about the pair’s antics, sharing a moment that brought the staff to a triple-take surprise.

While strolling through the kennels, Weissenborn and a colleague were met by the duo at the kennel’s front. The puzzling bit? Brenda had scaled a cement wall separating her kennel from Linda’s. The security camera footage that captured Brenda’s audacious and touching move left the staff amazed and amused. “We knew that they had to be together,” Weissenborn enthused, reflecting on the display of affection.

The heartening story comes at a crucial time for MACC, which is currently facing an occupancy challenge as the shelter nears its full capacity. “The majority of our cases are due to housing. So either people moving away, moving into places that don’t allow specific breeds,” Weissenborn explained. She added that an uptick in homelessness was also contributing to the strain on their resources.

The shelter has noted a nationwide slowdown in the adoption of larger dogs. To encourage more adoptions, MACC has waived the adoption fee for dogs over 7 months old. For the affectionate duo, Brenda and Linda, the staff hopes for a joint adoption. After all, their friendship has proven strong enough to scale walls!

While these two friends’ story is captivating, it underlines a broader challenge faced by shelters nationwide. They are home to countless animals, each with a unique story and the potential to be an amazing companion.
