TikToker Rescues Rabbit Dying of Heat Stroke

Gray rabbit outside in the fall

@jays_rabbit_rescue found a poor rabbit who was dying of heat stroke and was covered in mud. Although she is an expert and knows that rabbits are not supposed to get wet, this was a special case. His fur was caked with mud, and he needed a quick cool down, so her vet gave her the go-ahead. She found out that the rabbit loved to swim and float! After the animal’s bath, they got some warm snuggles in a blanket.

Although people were very upset in the comments, she assured them that it was necessary to bathe the rabbit. The mud was stuck and dried on his fur and was restricting his breathing.

“He needs a name, one as special as a story!” @jays_rabbit_rescue said in the caption of the video.

Replying to @doglover35578 #greenscreen 💜I am aware of the dangers of bathing a bunny, but there really was no other choice. The amount of hate I got even after explaining his situation, was unreal. ☮️He is breathing, walking, eating and drinking water because he now has the ability to. I understand you’re worried but he is OK, I knew what I was doing. I understand people are concerned, but being kind of goes a long way. ❤️He needs a name, one as special as a story!! Leave ideas in the comments!!❤️ if you have questions or concerns feel free to ask in the comments, I would be happy to respond. But do it respectfully🙏 #rescue #RabbitRescue #bunny #animals #floppitylopity #cute #rabbitsoftiktok #rabbit #babybunny #babyanimals

In an updated video, she said that he is very happy and active. He is playing well and is healthy again except for a wound that the vet found inside his mouth. Although they aren’t sure what the wound is from, the vet gave her some medicine and the rabbit, now named Oakley, should be fine in no time!

People like this that take their time to rescue animals are truly amazing!

According to national estimates, approximately 6.3 million companion animals are abandoned and enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. If you happen to notice a cat on the side of the road, whether or not the animal is injured, safely put on the hazard lights and pull your car completely off the road before attempting to rescue them, says the Humane Society.
