In a shocking incident in Springfield, Missouri, a puppy was found in horrifying condition, prompting local animal rescue group, Rescue One, to step in. The 3-month-old pup was found shaved and covered in swastikas and profanity, including instructions not to feed her.

Rescue One, known for its relentless dedication to animal welfare, shared the heartbreaking discovery online, expressing gratitude to law enforcement for bringing the dog to their care. The puppy, now named Leslie, is on her way to recovery, with several baths to remove the cruel markings and lots of love to help heal her spirit.

The rescue team is delighted to report that Leslie is settling in beautifully, and she’s getting along splendidly with the other dogs. As Leslie continues her recovery, details about who may have inflicted such trauma on her remain undisclosed. Leslie’s story reminds us of the remarkable work animal rescues do to give these innocent creatures a second chance.

While we cannot change the horrific treatment that many animals have already endured in the past, we have the ability to give animals a voice and hold perpetrators accountable for crimes in the present and the future. Many animal abusers are not held accountable by the law, which feeds into this horrific cycle of abuse. You can sign this petition to demand all states make all animal abuse a felony.
