Neglect is abuse, and what happened to Hank the Rottweiler in St. Albans, Vermont, is a clear and heartbreaking example. Hank was allegedly locked alone in an apartment for weeks without heat, food, or running water during freezing winter weather. When he was finally found, he had lost 77 pounds, more than half the healthy weight of many adult male Rottweilers. He barely survived this cruelty.
Against the odds, Hank has recovered and was adopted, but this case could have ended very differently. According to local reporting, the man responsible received no jail time and only probation, along with an unclear ban on owning animals. That is not enough. Authorities must send a strong message that animal abuse will not be tolerated. This individual should face mandatory counseling and a lifetime ban on animal ownership. If you care about animals, the environment we share with them, and basic compassion, sign the petition now. Please sign the petition now and demand justice for Hank.
