The global demand for coffee is allegedly fueling massive deforestation in Brazil, with devastating consequences for forests, wildlife, and the climate. A recent report found that more than 42,000 square miles of forest have already been lost in regions dominated by coffee plantations. This destruction is accelerating Climate change, harming animals, and destabilizing ecosystems that millions depend on.
Ironically, deforestation makes coffee harder to grow. Trees regulate rainfall and moisture, and when forests are cleared, drought becomes more likely. That puts both biodiversity and the long term future of coffee farming at risk. Unsustainable expansion may ultimately undermine the very industry driving it.
Brazil’s deforestation crisis has been building for years. The Brazilian National Congress must act now to halt coffee related forest loss and enforce sustainable growing practices. Sign the petition now to protect forests, animals, and the climate. Sign the petition now before irreversible damage is done.
