South Carolina is facing a fast moving measles outbreak that cannot be ignored. More than 140 confirmed cases have already been reported, with hundreds of students forced into quarantine. Measles spreads faster than COVID or the flu and can infect people before symptoms appear, making delays especially dangerous. As winter gatherings continue, hospitals and schools are already under strain from rising COVID, flu, and RSV cases.

Other states are not waiting. Across the Northeast and Mid Atlantic, regional public health coalitions are sharing data, coordinating vaccine guidance, and preparing together as federal leadership remains uncertain. South Carolina residents deserve the same level of protection.

Without coordination, families are left exposed and health systems risk being overwhelmed. South Carolina can either act now or fall further behind as illnesses spread. Sign the petition now to urge state leaders to join or create a regional public health coalition. Sign the petition now because waiting costs lives.
