A dolphin was found decapitated on Lea-Hutaff Island, North Carolina — a gruesome and tragic act that cannot be ignored. Wildlife officials confirmed the dolphin was carrying Brucella, a dangerous bacteria. Allegedly mutilated after death, this animal’s remains posed a health risk to both marine and human life.
This horrific act is illegal under the Marine Mammal Protection Act. NOAA and state officials are now offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible.
We must hold those who commit violence against animals accountable. This was not an accident — it was cruelty. The authorities must act now.
