A dog was rescued by a lifeguard last week after the small pup darted into the water at Long Beach and was seen swimming out to sea.

Lifeguards at the beach were altered about the daredevil pup and quickly jumped into action to rescue him. The pup was seen running loose in the Junipero Beach parking lot In Long Beach, according to a statement from the Long Beach Fire Department. When lifeguards arrived, the small white pup had run out into the ocean and started swimming away from the shore.
One of the lifeguards sprung into action and grabbed his wetsuit, rescue board, and buoy and swam in to get the pup. Water temperatures were reportedly around just 54 degrees at the time. Eventually the pup made it out to the swim line and the lifeguard was able to grab him and place him on the board and return safely to shore.
The dog’s human could not immediately be found so the pup was given to Animal Care Services but later the Long Beach Fire Department announced that the pup was reunited with his owner.
