There’s a strange and pervasive belief that since some animals are able to live in the wild, they’ll do just fine living on the streets of a city. This belief causes people to turn beloved family pets out on the streets when they’re unwanted or “too much” to take care of. Pit Bulls are especially vulnerable to this myth as their stocky build makes them look far less vulnerable than they really are.
This video shows the sad reality of what happens when a family carelessly abandons an animal. This poor Pit Bull was cold, starving, and abandoned, living in a damp crawlspace in the basement of a condemned building. The pup was covered with infected wounds and was struggling to fight off the illness in his body. Luckily, the Michigan Humane Society heard of his plight and came to the rescue!
It will be a long time until this pup makes a full recovery, but he is certainly in the right hands now!
