It seems increasingly obvious that the future of food is plant-based, and many consumers are making a switch to plant-based diets for both health and ethical concerns. Businesses are catching on to the growing demand for vegan options, and even several fast food restaurants have added plant-based alternatives to their menus. Restaurants with entirely plant-based menus, like the hugely popular California chain, Veggie Grill, have also been sprouting up like wildflowers, providing healthy options for the 30 percent of Americans who are trying to leave meat off the menu more frequently.
Now, the restaurant chain, BurgerFi, is joining the trend by adding the world-famous Beyond Burger, the vegan “burger that bleeds,” to eight of their locations, including in Malibu, Philadelphia, and New York City. BurgerFi already carries a veggie burger, but the Beyond Burger is no ordinary veggie burger – it sizzles on the grill and changes from a light pink color to a crispy brown when cooked. Those who have tried it say it is like biting into a beef burger, in both texture and flavor.
The new Beyond Burger option will be available at BurgerFi beginning July 3, 2017, and the chain is planning to add it to all of its locations by the end of summer. Corey Winograd, chief executive of BurgerFi, explained to the NY Times why they chose to make this addition, stating, “I’ve now come to understand that there’s a growing number of semi-vegetarian people who want a primarily plant-based diet, and since we want to appeal to 100 percent of consumers out there, we have to have something for them.”
We are thrilled to see a large burger chain add a vegan option to their menu that will appeal to a broad array of consumers. With delicious meat-alternatives like the Beyond Burger (and the rest of the Beyond Meat products and other brands like Gardein) readily available to consumers, it’s quickly becoming clear that meat doesn’t have to be made with animals.
If you’re looking to cut back on your meat consumption for the benefit of the planet, animals, and your own health – check out One Green Planet’s #EatForThePlanet campaign.

Athena, soy is not really bad for you. anything that is overdone can be but soy is not the evil that it is portrayed to be. I truthfully do not know all the facts but i do know that. the mainstream says lots of things are bad for us. I just heard that they are saying that coconut oil is ad for us. Oddly many things that alternative people have ben using for many years that the mainstream laughed at-echinacea, granola, Vitamin C, and so much more they now use although they usually seem to turn it into some unhealthy form.
If there was a restaurant here with those burgers I might try one but i don\’t really miss blood oozing from my food. I didn\’t like ti when i ate meat over 41 years ago and do not feel the need for it now. others may like it though.
Just bought my first package of Beyond Meat burgers, having them tonight. The couple of Restaurants here in San Francisco that offered these new burgers sold out of them over several days. The main ingredient is Pea Protein they don\’t have soy, gluten or GMO\’s.
But I keep reading that SOY is bad for you/your health..I have heart problems and am basically vegetarian/no meat but do eat eggs. I love tofu but what is the story about not being good for you …
