Undercover footage has become one of the only ways people can see where animal products actually come from. These videos remind us that neither meat nor dairy products appear magically on our plates.
This dairy farm footage, taken by Glass Walls, is a sad reminder of the truth. Behind dairy industry propaganda, which too often features happy cows, is the reality that a cow’s milk is taken through processes of great suffering. Between forced insemination, captivity, being deprived of all things natural, and having their calves taken away from them, no cow would ever encourage people to drink their milk – were they in the position to do so.
The tragedy is that these calves are often taken from their mothers after only 12 to 24 hours. The milk that the mother makes for their calf is stolen and given to humans, who don’t need it, instead. Cow’s milk is explicitly baby food for calves and nothing more.
In an article entitled, “Banning Calf Removal Would Spell End to Dairy Industry,” Marvin Pangborndairy a farmer and farm management lecturer says,”We can move away from that if they want us to, but there would be no dairy industry,” adding “the economics of leaving calves with cows were ‘horrible.'” Calves would drink milk produced by their mothers, “leaving less to be sold and decreasing farm profitability.”
There are countless, delicious, plant-based alternatives that one can choose instead of cow’s milk. Non-dairy milk and cheese are easier than ever to get. You don’t have to drink cow’s milk to be healthy.

Dairy is murder, unfortunately. Even if these abuses are stopped, all dairy cattle are sold to needless slaughter in the holocaust that is the meat industry. Stop eating meat and demand better from the dairy industry, such as demanding that cows not be pressed to overproduce milk, that an artificial means to produce milk be found that ends the need to inseminate, that low production cows are sidelined to retirement, etc. Let the customer pay for what they do to these animals.
