The UN Conference on Climate Change in Paris (COP21) has drawn a ton of attention on some of the most pressing issues facing our planet. World leaders from across this enormous, amazing planet that we call home are all coming together with the collective goal of setting some sort of legislation in place to mitigate the worst possible effects of global climate change. It’s so awesome to see the world light up with conversation surrounding how human actions are impacting everything from animals to other people and the physical landscape of our Earth.

Being an avid Green Monster, I’ve been following the chats like a super sleuth and was so tail-waggingly happy to hear none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger had a pretty smart take on how all people can make a MASSIVE positive difference on a daily basis. According to the ultimate muscle man himself, if everyone in the world gave up meat at least once or twice a week, they could DRASTICALLY slash carbon emissions.

Give up meat!?! What?! Could that really work…

This awesomesauce solution sounds migggggghty familiar, don’t it? Yup, that’s right, it’s something that we here at One Green Planet have been saying is the most powerful choice you can make for the sake of the planet, animals, and your own health! After all, animal agriculture is not only responsible for about 14.5 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, it uses a RIDICULOUS amount of freshwater resources, is pushing endangered species into near extinction … oh yeah, AND polluting the air and water that we all rely on for, well LIFE!?

When asked about what he maintains his iconic muscles without meat (YES, GASP?), he simply replied: “You can get your protein many different ways.”  Not only can you get it – but my human friends told me that the number of meat alternatives that are mighty tasty and good for you is growing every single day.

Double bacon cheeseburger..?

I mean come on peeps, by leaving meat off the menu, you can halve your carbon footprint, save 162,864 gallons of water annually, AND divert enough grain away from the livestock system to feed 1.4 BILLION other humans. Yes, pretty epic.

That’s right, next time you spot the Governator, he’ll be sporting a badass veggie burger instead. Because you don’t have to be a superhero in the movies to save the world, you can save the world right here and now with your food choices. So, pick up your fork and start making a difference!

honestly I wouldn't eat meat but there are so little places that serve veggies anymore. I have to hunt for a meat and three and those burger joints are so nasty now. Wish someone would open some potato and salad places and vegetable bar places. I would eat it.

infact by eating meat we create ecological balance just imagine what will happen if population of grass eating animals increase in numbers they will require more veg diet & indirectly create veg crisis but by balancing diet we actually creates balance in ecology only thing which we need to learn from nature is overconsumption which is a human created problem & should not indiscriminately kill animals or plants for food but only for how much is require for a days meal

Wolves keep the the natural ecological balance. Meat for human consumption is bred according to profit and demand. Remove the profit and demand......

Kathleen Youngblood humans may create more ecological imbalance if they just go on absolutely veg diets that would means they will compete with the grass eater animals & you know how worst or big stomachs humans are when it comes to consumption which will not only result it problems for grass eaters but also down the chain all other animals wether meat or grass eaters

but your wrong on facts when you say that we are naturally not meant to be meat eaters infact our first ancestors perhaps ate more of meat than veg diets as they were typically good natural hunters but humans are evolved to eat both meat & veg diet & its perfectly no harms unless you consume more in either case
