How to Prepare Turkish Stewed Green Beans [Vegan, Gluten-free]
- Rinse the rice well and cook it as per the packet instructions.
- Heat the olive oil in a pan and cook the chopped onion until lightly browned.
- Clip the tips of the green beans before adding them to the onion. Stir them until they slightly change color. This will take approximately 8-10 minutes.
- Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, and garlic. Let them all cook for 10 minutes.
- Add the water and season the dish with salt and pepper as you see fit.
- Cover the pan and cook on low until the beans are soft.
- You may need to add more water as it keeps cooking. Check on the dish every 8-10 minutes and stir periodically. This should take 35-45 minutes.
- Serve with rice hot or by itself cold as a side dish.
