At last! Now vegans and vegetarians, plus the millions of omnivores and carnivores who are eating more plant-based meals, are invited to join the authentic smoke-cooked BBQ party! Barbecue is famous, of course, as a way to cook meat—but meat is not the only thing you can cook in a smoker. Cooking low and slow over natural wood embers, the core method of genuine ’Q, infuses produce and other plant-based foods, like tofu and tempeh, with rich depths of rustic flavor that you won’t get from a stovetop skillet or steamer.

Smoked Peaches with Vegan Rum Whip [Vegan]
In the South, especially where I’m from in Georgia, peaches are readily available. So here’s another peachy recipe!
Ingredients You Need for Smoked Peaches with Vegan Rum Whip [Vegan]
How to Prepare Smoked Peaches with Vegan Rum Whip [Vegan]
- Prepare the smoker for a 15-minute smoke (140°–165°F [60°–75°C]).
- Halve the peaches and remove the stones. Freestone peaches will work the best in this recipe. Sprinkle the raw sugar evenly over the cut side of the peaches. Smoke them, cut side down, for 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, add the vegan whipped cream to a medium bowl and fold in the white sugar, vanilla, and rum.
- Serve the warm peaches with a dollop of spiced rum whipped cream and enjoy!
Notes
Note: A trick to keep your whipped cream firm is to place it in the freezer for about 10 minutes to firm back up before scooping.
