    These chips are extremely easy to make, but their exotic looking appearance would complement any kind of buffet. Best served with hummus but any other dip would certainly do too.

    Ingredients You Need for Lotus Chips [Vegan]

    • 1 lotus root
    • Vinegar, 1 tbsp
    • Vegetable oil, 1-2 tbsp
    • Salt to taste

    How to Prepare Lotus Chips [Vegan]

    1. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees.
    2. Wash the lotus root and peel it with a paring knife, cut into thin circles.
    3. Place the lotus circles for a few minutes in a bowl with water and vinegar.
    4. Heat the oil in a pan.
    5. Drain the lotus circles, season with salt and bake them over high heat for 3-4 minutes.
    6. Spread the chips on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper and place the tray in the preheated oven.
    7. Let the chips for about 20-25 minutes in the oven, or until lightly brown.
    8. Serve with any dip of your choice.

    1. These look very cool, but I don\’t understand step 5, where it says "bake them over a high heat for 3-4 minutes." Since I was told in step ! to preheat my oven to 160, I\’m going to assume I\’m not baking anything at a high heat in step 5. Do you mean saute? Or microwave? What is the intent of this step? Thanks!

      1. Confused too. In step 4- Heat the oil in a pan. Oil is never mentioned after that. What do I do with the heated oil? It\’s just sitting there in the pan on the stove.
