The creaminess of the avocado, the pinch of spice, and of course, the chocolate, make a deliciously addicting combo. And the sticky-sweet dried cranberry topping just puts this dessert over the top!

Creamy Chocolate Bars [Vegan]



For the Bars:

  • 1 cup dates, soaked for at least 1 hour
  • 1/3 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/2 cup chickpea flour
  • 1 medium avocado
  • 1/3 cup Dutch process cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne

For the Topping:

  • 3 heaped tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons Dutch process cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar of choice
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/8–1/4 cup sesame seeds


  1. Blend all ingredients together until smooth.
  2. Scoop into a parchment-lined loaf pan.
  3. Freeze for at least 1 or 2 hours before slicing.
  4. Melt your coconut oil and vanilla in the microwave, then whisk together the cocoa powder, salt, and sugar.
  5. Drizzle or brush the mixture on top of the bars and top with dried cranberries and sesame seeds.
  6. Store and serve from the freezer.
