This week, Culver City welcomes a new plant-based restaurant, Love Life [stylized as Love. Life], brought to life by a team of former Whole Foods executives and a seasoned vegan chef. Opening on May 5 in the expansive Ivy Station complex at Venice and National Boulevard, Love Life joins a vibrant neighborhood that includes Etta, Equator Coffee, and Los Angeles Ale Works’ second tasting room.

Love Life has a 50-seat patio and a spacious 5,000-square-foot interior on Ivy Station’s Venice side. Here, renowned chef Brooks McCarty, with over a decade of experience under vegan pioneer Matthew Kenney, crafts a vibrant and diverse plant-based menu.

Opening its doors at 7 a.m., Love Life serves morning coffee, fresh juices, wellness shots, quick bites like overnight oats, warm breakfast sandwiches, house-made granola, and acai bowls. Full service starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 10 p.m., featuring a range of delectable lunch starters such as artichoke dip and blistered shishitos, salads, sandwiches, and bowls. McCarty’s unique 48-hour fermented sourdough pizza crust is a must-try, as well as the dinner offerings, including shepherd’s pie, lentil, mushroom bolognese, and mushroom farro risotto.

Emphasizing a healthier approach to plant-based food, Love Life steers clear of deep-fried and heavily processed options. Despite stiff competition from established plant-based eateries like Matthew Kenney’s Sestina, Monty’s Good Burger, LA Vegan, and Variable Cafe, Love Life aims to carve out its niche in Culver City. The restaurant’s location offers a captive audience that includes residents of Ivy Station and employees at the nearby HBO headquarters.

Love Life’s launch marks its first official location, following the acquisition of Miami’s Love Life Cafe in 2021 by a team that includes Whole Foods Market co-founder and former CEO John Mackey, former Whole Foods co-CEO Walter Robb, and former Whole Foods executive Betsy Foster.

Visit Love Life at 8900 Venice Boulevard., suite 101, Culver City, CA 90232. Start your day with takeaway, coffee, and juice bar services from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., or enjoy a full-service experience from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

If this new wave of plant-based dining inspires you, why not explore more vegan options in your local area or try whipping up some plant-based dishes at home? Every plant-based meal helps contribute to a more sustainable future!
