On June 24, Atlanta’s acclaimed plant-based burger chain, Slutty Vegan, started serving up its unique and tantalizing menu in Los Angeles for a month-long residency. This event is being held at Nomoo All-American Burgers on Melrose Avenue and will run until the end of July.
Pinky Cole-Hayes, the innovative owner of Slutty Vegan, shared her excitement about the residency with Eater. “I used to live in LA and wanted to make sure we could test the market,” she said. “I knew there was a big vegan scene in LA, and it’s only right to start at the place that’s at the top of the food chain.”
Since its inception in 2018, Slutty Vegan has quickly risen to prominence, opening seven locations across Georgia and expanding to Brooklyn, Harlem, Texas, and Alabama. The restaurant chain gained significant attention and growth, culminating in a $25 million investment in 2022 from Danny Meyer’s Enlightened Hospitality Investments and Richelieu Dennis’ New Voices Fund, which valued the company at $100 million.
Visitors to the LA residency can look forward to a rotating menu of inventive plant-based burgers each night. Some of the highlights include the Hollywood Hooker, the Dancehall Queen, and the PLT, which features sweet jerk plantains, lettuce, tomato, and the chain’s signature “slut sauce” on a Hawaiian bun. When asked about the potential for a permanent location in Los Angeles, Cole-Hayes hinted at future possibilities. “If this one pop-up does well, there’s definitely an opportunity,” she said.
Slutty Vegan will be serving its delicious offerings daily from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 7507 Melrose Avenue, from June 24 until July 24.
