Superiority Burger has been drawing New Yorkers for years. Now, plant-based eaters and omnivores alike can chow down on Chef Brooks Headley’s famous quinoa-based, veggie-burger patties at a second location that has just opened in the East Village. The all-vegetarian restaurant has been a favorite amongst New Yorkers and visitors alike since it opened. However, the previous location was tiny with only a few seats and long lines.

The lines are still there at the new location, however, there is much more space available once you are inside. Superiority Burger took over a space that was formerly occupied by a local favorite, the Ukrainian diner Odessa. Although Superiority Burger doesn’t take reservations, people are still willing to wait in the long line to get in. The wait is worth it to try the delicious vegetarian food on offer. Although the veggie burger is the star of the show, there are many other delicious appetizers, entrees, and desserts to choose from.

Superiority Burger doesn’t just have great food, they also have a great vibe. The vegetarian restaurant was carefully selected by the previous owners when they decided to vacate the space. To keep the local character alive, Chef Headley chose to retain much of the original diner’s decor. Not only that, but the former punk rock drummer has carefully cultivated the music selection. Bands like The Nerves and The Clash add to the atmosphere as diners much on the famous veggie burger.

Restaurants like Superiority Burger help make plant-based food accessible to a wider range of people. Although veganism and vegetarianism have been on the rise in recent years, most Americans still identify as omnivores. However, attitudes toward plant-based meat alternatives are quickly changing. This is important, as adopting plant-based diets can help to greatly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, play a vital role in curtailing Climate change, and help to feed the world’s growing population. By making plant-based food fun and exciting for all, Superiority Burger is showing people how easy it can be to adopt a more sustainable diet. Currently, the restaurant’s famous burgers are selling for $16.
