Recently, a doctor named Dr. Faraz Harsini went viral on Twitter for asking Selena Gomez not to abuse animals and to use her platform to encourage her followers to show compassion towards all beings.
Dear @selenagomez,
I hope that you consider using your platform to promote kindness and compassion towards animals, rather than encouraging their harm and killing in the name of entertainment.

Dr. Faraz Harsini Tweeted at Selena Gomez due to a recent post from her Instagram, which shows her holding a fish while seemingly out on water fishing.
“I hope that you consider using your platform to promote kindness and compassion towards animals, rather than encouraging their harm and killing in the name of entertainment. Have you ever considered the immense suffering that fish experience when you rip a hole in their mouths and suffocate them in an environment in which they can’t breathe?” Dr. Harsini said in his tweet.
The tweet has now racked up nearly 900,000 views.
“Fish are animals, not swimming vegetables and inanimate objects. If it wasn’t because of cognitive dissonance, we’d be upset with this the same we would be if someone drowned a dog for fun, or to eat them. It’s disheartening that as a society, we have become so disconnected that we view harming animals as a source of amusement,” he continued.
“What if, instead of promoting animal cruelty, we found other ways to bond with children, such as visiting animal sanctuaries, volunteering at shelters, or teaching them to be kind to animals? I urge you to reconsider your stance on promoting animal abuse and encourage your followers to show compassion towards all beings.”
Fish are sentient creatures, and they are not ours to use and abuse for recreation! We hope that Selena Gomez will stand up and use her platform for good.
