When President Donald Trump returned to office, he moved fast to undo climate action. Within days, executive orders pushed fossil fuels, reopened drilling, and pulled the United States out of global climate cooperation. According to Grist, the scale of these changes felt historic, even shocking, to many who care about the Earth and the future of the planet.
Oil and gas leasing expanded, offshore wind was sidelined, and climate language vanished from federal websites. Clean energy tax credits that once supported solar, wind, and electric vehicles were rolled back. These moves created real harm for the environment and slowed momentum when time matters most. Methane rules were delayed, coal plants got special treatment, and emissions climbed when they should have fallen.
Yet there is an important twist. Many of these actions rest on executive power, not lasting law. That means they can be reversed. Courts have already stepped in, allowing offshore wind projects to resume in some states. Future administrations could undo much of this damage with the same tools used to create it.
The exception is legislation. The rollback of major clean energy tax credits will require Congress to act again if they are to return. Still, even here, market forces tell a different story. Solar and other zero carbon power sources remain cheaper than fossil fuels. Coal survives only with government Support, which signals weakness, not strength.
Climate policy is not just about energy. It is about health, communities, and protecting animals and wildlife that suffer when storms grow stronger and heat intensifies. It is also about choosing a plant based future that reduces pressure on land, water, and ecosystems.
This moment calls for focus, not despair. Progress can be rebuilt. Keep supporting climate action, compassionate food choices, and leaders who put people and the planet first. Together, we can still push for a cleaner and more just future.
