Tiny French Bulldog Puppy Discovered in Trashcan

Puppy of French bulldog

A 12-week-old French bulldog named Oscar has captured hearts with his remarkable story of survival. Rescue organization Mac’s Mission, based in Jackson, Missouri, described Oscar as their “saddest rescue” to date after he was discovered abandoned in a trashcan, seemingly discarded by a breeder due to his poor health. Found in a pitiful state with an umbilical hernia, a grade 2 heart murmur, and a severe upper respiratory infection, Oscar’s plight seemed dire.

Rochelle Steffen, founder of Mac’s Mission, recounted the heart-wrenching circumstances saying, “He was pretty much lifeless when he arrived, and I rushed him to our veterinarian as an emergency case,” she said.

Despite the initial bleak prognosis, Oscar’s spirit began to shine through as he responded positively to medical care. His endearing personality emerged. However, his journey to recovery faced a significant setback when his heart murmur worsened, necessitating urgent intervention.

Steffen highlighted Mac’s Mission’s commitment to animals in need, emphasizing their dedication to taking on extreme medical cases and special needs. The organization faces substantial financial burdens, with each puppy requiring costly consultations and potentially extensive treatments. Yet, Oscar’s zest for life remains the same. Despite his heart condition, he exhibits no signs of heart failure and delights in running and playing with his fellow rescue friends.

Reflecting on Oscar’s ordeal, Steffen expressed a mixture of anger at his initial abandonment and determination to provide him with the love and care he deserves. “To think about him sitting in a trashcan wasting away alone and terrified makes my blood boil,” she said. “Our team is all in on Oscar and whatever he needs to feel loved and to be happy.”
